Matrix dimensions calculator

Read the row and column counts of a native matrix.

How to use this calculator

Edit the 2-by-3 matrix inside Shape; its shape is (2,3).

Tap the math below to edit it and see the result. Once a result is ready, press Tab on a hardware keyboard to accept it. Outside a matrix, Return completes the line; the phone math keyboard has the same Return action.

Try it here

Shape⁡([123456])\operatorname{Shape}\left(\begin{bmatrix}1&2&3\\4&5&6\end{bmatrix}\right)

What to know

Shape is not matrix rank. Tensor Rank describes the number of axes, while MatrixRank counts independent rows or columns.

Mathlean combines visual mathematical input with computation and canvas tools. Results depend on the expression and available engine support; check important answers independently.
