Matrix norm calculator

Measure matrix size with a supported matrix norm.

How to use this calculator

Edit Norm(matrix). With no order argument a matrix uses the Frobenius norm, the square root of the sum of squared entry magnitudes.

Tap the math below to edit it and see the result. Once a result is ready, press Tab on a hardware keyboard to accept it. Outside a matrix, Return completes the line; the phone math keyboard has the same Return action.

Try it here

Norm⁡([2004])\operatorname{Norm}\left(\begin{bmatrix}2&0\\0&4\end{bmatrix}\right)

Interactive tools require JavaScript. You can read the guide and example without it.

What to know

An explicit second argument 2 selects the spectral norm instead. Vector defaults use the Euclidean norm.

Mathlean combines visual mathematical input with computation and canvas tools. Results depend on the expression and available engine support; check important answers independently.
